It is FINALLY here! SPRING BREAK! Can I get a Whoop Whoop??!! =)

I honestly did not think that I would make, but yes it is true- Spring Break has arrived! Nine wonderful days to spend with my baby girl relaxing and playing. ahhh! I already fill SOOO much better than I did yesterday afternoon. I have been so stressed trying to make sure that my kids are ready for the BIG test. I have finally decided (today) that either they are going to know it or they are not and at this point in the game their isn't much I can do. I have prepared them as much as I possibly can. Yes, we will still review when we get back from Spring Break the few days we have before the test, but as for me worrying and stressing- that is over. =)   (I hope!)

Okay, now for some fun stuff.....

a BIG THANKS goes out to Heather from Beg, Borrow, and Teach! for nominating me for the Lovely Blog Award. I have received this award in the past, but it is so nice for someone to see fit to give it to me again. It puts a big smile on my face, so for that THANKS!

Also, Ladybug's Teacher Files is having a Linky Party for Anchor Charts! I have decided to link up and I hope you will too. =) Below are some pictures of some of the anchor charts that are currently hanging in my classroom. Some I have come up with myself and others are Pinterest finds.

As part of our "shapes" discussion this week, we  made these Quadrilateral Flip Books. We folded a sheet of cardstock paper in half (hamburger style), wrote quadrilaterals along the fold, wrote the five different types of quadrilaterals on the front (spacing between each), cut the front flap between each word, and wrote the definition behind each flap. We then used our flip books to name different quadrilaterals using all names possible. It seemed to work really well.

I also have pictures of some of the best leprechaun traps that my kids came up with. Sorry for the poor quality of the pictures. My camera didn't want to focus for some reason.

I hope you all have a great weekend! If you get a chance, you can check out my TPT store. I added a new grammar pack and there is my Spring Fun Pack that has a very cute bunny bag craft (if I do say so myself!).

If you aren't already a follower of my store (or blog), I would love for you to start! =)

Happy Weekend and Spring Break!

And the WINNER is......

Congratulations! I will be emailing you your goodies. =)

Three more days until Spring Break!

Test prep, shapes, and a Giveaway (which ends tonight!)

Today we started our 2 week test prep cram. We are trying to review everything that we have done this year and making sure that we have at least been exposed to everything else. Today we began practice tests in both reading and math so that I can see the areas that we really need to concentrate on. Shapes and polygons had the spotlight today in math. Below are some of the anchor charts that I made and some examples of the shapes sort that I had the kids do. I gave each of the kiddos a sheet with different shapes on it and told them that they could sort them anyway that they wanted - they just had to tell me how they sorted them.

I also want to let you all know about a giveaway that is going on over at Love to Teach. It ends tonight so hurry over to check it out!

Bar Graphs, Conjugation Chains, and Verbs Galore!

We are super busy this week preparing for our assessments that are in 3 weeks. In addition to our "regular" math class (where we are discussing decimals), we are also having a second math class in the afternoon to make sure that we get everything covered before the test. This week we are looking at  how to gather data through surveys and how to use that data to create a tally chart and graph. Today we look at creating bar graphs. Here are a few pics from our afternoon:

We are also working on verbs in grammar. We have talked about the different tenses (present, past, and future). Today we made conjugation chains.

I wrote differnt verbs on index cards and gave each student one card. They were then to conjugate their verb into present, past, and future tenses. We displayed their conjugations in chains that we hung around the room.

Here is an anchor chart that I made for past tense verbs:

Seven more days until SPRING BREAK! YAY!!!!! =)

Decimals and Spring/Easter Pack

This week we have been working on decimals. Decimal place value, ordering decimals, converting decimals to fractions and fractions to decimals. This is actually the second time that we have talked about decimals this year, so part (place value and ordering) is a review. I like to go back and look at things that we had covered closer to the beginning of the year so that it is fresh on the kids' minds for testing. They have actually done pretty well with the concept of converting decimals to fractions and vice versa. For some reason, this topic has been easier for me to teach this year. I have felt like I was communicating the concept to the children in a way that was  really clicking with them. I LOVE LOVE LOVE when that happens! =)

I have also been working on a Spring/Easter Activity Pack. So far I have:
2 Making Words Activities
2 Word Searches
1 Word Scramble
1 Descriptive Writing Prompt with illustration extension
1 Sequential Order Writing Prompt with illustration extension

I plan on working up some type of craft activity tomorrow to add to it, but I was wondering if y'all had any suggestions for things that I could add to the pack. Anything you would like to see? I am up for trying anything, so please if you have any suggestions please let me know! I hope to have this packet in my TPT store by the end of the week and also I will post a FREEBIE from the packet here. Hope you all have a GREAT Hump Day tomorrow!

St Patty's Day FREEBIE

Hello all! I just thought that I would share this writing activity that I just made to use with my kiddos tomorrow. We are talking about sequence and I thought that this would be something fun that they could do while practicing using sequential order. If you do download and use this, please leave me some feedback! Thanks and y'all have a great night!

Big Thanks, Award Nominations, Leprechauns, and Weekend

First of all, I would like to give a BIG THANKS to Molly from Lesson with Laughter for nominating  me for the Top 10 Blog Award! I was so excited to see this (I have been secretly wanting this award).

Here are my nominations for this awesome award:
If you haven't already, head over and check them out! They are awesome. =)

On to the leprechauns.....
We made leprechauns this week for our weekly art activity. The kids really seemed to enjoy it and some of the girls were very creative in making hair for their leprechauns.
You can get this pattern in my St. Patrick's Day Pack on my TPT store. I would love to see pictures of the creativity of your students. =)

Thank goodness it is the WeEkEnD!!!!!!! WOOOOHOOOO!
This week has been the longest of the entire year. Fortunately, the Compliance Review Team came and went with a GREAT report for our school and county. Thanks to everyone for the prayers and warm wishes! It really means a lot to have the support of all you fellow bloggers. =) This weekend I plan to take it easy. It seems like the last few weekends I have been running all over the place, so this weekend I am going to take it easy and spend time with my husband and daughter. I hope everyone has a WONDERFUL weekend! God Bless!

Big Thanks, Review Committee, Giveaway, and FREEBIE

First of all, I would like to give a BIG THANKS to everyone who has sent birthday wishes my way! It really makes my day to see such kind words from people all over the country who don't even know me. Thank you all so much. =)

Second of all, tomorrow starts the visits from the Compliance Review Team. I am so nervous! I have been looking over my study notes, cleaning my classroom like a woman possessed, and drilling my kids on how they are going to behave and what they are going to do if they see one of the members of the review team in the hallway or in our classroom. I guess I am as prepared as I am going to be, but I just don't know. I hope that they come early tomorrow so that we can get this over with! Please everyone just say a quick little prayer tomorrow and Thursday for the Blount County School System (especially remember Appalachian School).

Now onto the fun stuff!

I have just finished up a St. Patrick's Day themed Adding and Subtracting Fractions with Like Denominators Packet that I have just placed in my TPT store. I will give away a pack to the first 3 to comment on this post! This packet includes 6 different worksheets, 2 cut and paste activities, and a math station! I also have a fraction FREEBIE for everyone as well.

Good luck and have a Happy Hump Day tomorrow!

Don't forget to leave your email for the giveaway!

Seuss Week =), Compliance Review, & a FREEBIE coming soon!

I am SO LOVING Dr. Seuss Week! My hall is all decked out for Seuss-ville (my part at least). My kids seem to be enjoying it, too. Tomorrow is our "free read" day. We are going to read our books with our pillow pets, eat green eggs and ham, turn ourselves into Thing 1 and Thing 2, eat Thing 1 and Thing 2 inspired cupcakes, create graphs and make predictions with our goldfish (you can find the activity on my TPT store), and watch "The Lorax". I can't wait! The only bad thing is I have to clean (really deep cleaning too) for the Compliance Review Team that is coming next week from the State. Ugh! Say a prayer. I am on the group of teachers that "gets" to talk with them. Lucky me! I will be posting pictures of all our fun from this week. Look for them in the next day or two.

Oh I am also working on a St. Patrick's Day Adding and Subtracting Fractions Pack that I will have on my TPT store (hopefully by this weekend!). I will also be posting a FREEBIE to go along with it! =)

Have a Happy Dr. Seuss's Birthday everyone!
