New Grade, New Look, Ready for a New Year! Kindergarten, here I come!

It is official! I am now a kindergarten teacher. :) I am so excited and a little nervous. I started working in my new classroom this week. Here is a "before" picture of my classroom:

Pretty much a blank slate, which is what I like! I will share an "after" picture once I get everything settled. Notice though that I have a........da ta da da...SMARTBoard! Yay! Now I just have to learn how to use it. LOL

In case you didn't notice, I also pimped my blog a little. I LOVE my new design and I hope you do too. Design Muse did an excellent job. Go check out her etsy shop when you have a chance. You can access it from here.

I hope to be posting pictures of some the things that I am doing in my classroom and some of the station activities. :) Be looking for some FREEBIES in the coming weeks. :)

Lastly,
ATTENTION KINDERGARTEN TEACHERS!
Since I am new to the kindergarten world (moving from 4th grade), I am a little overwhelmed. If any of you have any words of wisdom or tricks of the trade that you would be willing to share, I would GREATLY appreciate it! Thanks in advance. :)

Everyone have a wonderful "hump day" tomorrow!

    1. Thank you Vickie! If you have any ideas for first week activties, I would love to hear about them. :) Unfortunately, I am not going to be able to make the meet this weekend. :( My husband and I already had plans. I really wanted to go and am bummed that I am going to miss it. Hopefully, we will have another one soon. :)

  4. Love the new blog design - very clean and calm! My first advice for your new room is to beg, borrow or steal tables instead of desks. So much easier! If you have any questions please feel free to send them my way :) I absolutely love kindergarten and I am excited for you to make this change!

    1. Thanks for the advice, however, I don't know if I can get rid of the desks. :( I do plan, however, to put the desks in pods so that they are kinda like tables. Maybe that will work?

  5. Congratulations on your new room/class/ and blog design! They are all fantastic. Your room looks so clean and new.

The first thing I would do is donate the desks to an older grade and get tables for your little guys!

  6. Thanks for the compliments and advice. I just don't know if I will be able to lose the desks. I am planning on podding them up so maybe that will work.

  7. Just found your blog and I am your newest follower. I too went from Kindergarten to 5th grade to 3rd grade and then finally back to kindergarten! My advice, just keep following as many kindergarten blogs as you can. Also I notice that you have desks ---eeeek! Any hope of asking the custodian to change them out for tables? Unless you like the desks then never mind!!!! Good luck in kindergarten -- you will love love love this grade!!

  8. I know you are so excited about K!!! I will begin my 10th year this year and it's always overwhelming at the start. If you can't get rid of the desks, then definitely group them as you said. (hopefully that'll work :/) Love your smart board, we have mimios in our rooms. Hopefully I can put some pics up soon. But just have fun and don't stress, it always comes together. :)
