Spring Break, A Look at What We've Been Up To, & a SALE!

So this week is Spring Break...FINALLY! That means that I only have FIVE (that's right 5!) days left to work until my maternity leave starts! :) Spring Break also means that it is time to play blogging catch-up. Here is a few (and by few I really mean several) pictures of some of the things that we have been working on over the last month or so. Enjoy!

Journal Writing

This past picture is one that one of my EL students did. When she came to me she was almost completely non-English speaking and now she is able to sound out words and write them all by herself!

Reading and Writing Celebration Week!

The Imagination Place came to our school. It was so much fun! The kids made their own Oobleck and were able to try green eggs and ham!

Since our school is a K-12, high school students came to read to our class!

We did a small study about teeth for Dental Health Month. (Sorry these were the only pictures that I remembered to take.)

Reality and Fantasy

I found this CUTE Olivia pattern on Pinterest. It came from The First Grade Jungle. You can see the post about it here.

Shapes

We made shapes out of marshmallows and toothpicks! Fun, engaging, and yummy!

I got this cute idea from Mrs. Payton's Precious Kindergarteners and guess what? It was FREE!

The shape monsters came from Kindergarten Smorgasboard and again it was FREE!

These little darlings were an activity in our math series. The kiddos were given a shape and had to make it into something else by adding to it.

For our shape hunt, we looked around the classroom and outside to find real-life objects that were shapes. Fun, Fun!

St. Patrick's Day

This craft is included in my new St. Patty's Day Pack that didn't quite make it to my TPT store before the big green day this year, but I hope to finish it and it added to my store while I am on maternity leave this summer for next year.

Frogs, frogs, and more frogs!

We have been working on my frog unit the past couple of weeks. I forgot to take my camera to school before Spring Break, this is the only picture that I have. We have done several activities from my Frog Pack and I also added some more activities (including this cute fly craftivity!) that I will be updating my pack with while I am on maternity leave.

My Frog Pack, along with my other Spring packs are on sale today through Friday in honor of Spring Break! Grab you a copy while it is on sale and then you can re-download once  the updates are made!
I also finished my ELA Homework Pack and it is also on sale along with my Math All Year Pack and my BUNDLE Pack of Math and ELA All Year!

Please if you grab any of these items LIKE my store and leave me some feedback!

Hope you all have a GREAT rest of the week!

It is FINALLY here! SPRING BREAK! Can I get a Whoop Whoop??!! =)

I honestly did not think that I would make, but yes it is true- Spring Break has arrived! Nine wonderful days to spend with my baby girl relaxing and playing. ahhh! I already fill SOOO much better than I did yesterday afternoon. I have been so stressed trying to make sure that my kids are ready for the BIG test. I have finally decided (today) that either they are going to know it or they are not and at this point in the game their isn't much I can do. I have prepared them as much as I possibly can. Yes, we will still review when we get back from Spring Break the few days we have before the test, but as for me worrying and stressing- that is over. =)   (I hope!)

Okay, now for some fun stuff.....

a BIG THANKS goes out to Heather from Beg, Borrow, and Teach! for nominating me for the Lovely Blog Award. I have received this award in the past, but it is so nice for someone to see fit to give it to me again. It puts a big smile on my face, so for that THANKS!

Also, Ladybug's Teacher Files is having a Linky Party for Anchor Charts! I have decided to link up and I hope you will too. =) Below are some pictures of some of the anchor charts that are currently hanging in my classroom. Some I have come up with myself and others are Pinterest finds.

As part of our "shapes" discussion this week, we  made these Quadrilateral Flip Books. We folded a sheet of cardstock paper in half (hamburger style), wrote quadrilaterals along the fold, wrote the five different types of quadrilaterals on the front (spacing between each), cut the front flap between each word, and wrote the definition behind each flap. We then used our flip books to name different quadrilaterals using all names possible. It seemed to work really well.

I also have pictures of some of the best leprechaun traps that my kids came up with. Sorry for the poor quality of the pictures. My camera didn't want to focus for some reason.

I hope you all have a great weekend! If you get a chance, you can check out my TPT store. I added a new grammar pack and there is my Spring Fun Pack that has a very cute bunny bag craft (if I do say so myself!).

If you aren't already a follower of my store (or blog), I would love for you to start! =)

Happy Weekend and Spring Break!

Decimals and Spring/Easter Pack

This week we have been working on decimals. Decimal place value, ordering decimals, converting decimals to fractions and fractions to decimals. This is actually the second time that we have talked about decimals this year, so part (place value and ordering) is a review. I like to go back and look at things that we had covered closer to the beginning of the year so that it is fresh on the kids' minds for testing. They have actually done pretty well with the concept of converting decimals to fractions and vice versa. For some reason, this topic has been easier for me to teach this year. I have felt like I was communicating the concept to the children in a way that was  really clicking with them. I LOVE LOVE LOVE when that happens! =)

I have also been working on a Spring/Easter Activity Pack. So far I have:
2 Making Words Activities
2 Word Searches
1 Word Scramble
1 Descriptive Writing Prompt with illustration extension
1 Sequential Order Writing Prompt with illustration extension

I plan on working up some type of craft activity tomorrow to add to it, but I was wondering if y'all had any suggestions for things that I could add to the pack. Anything you would like to see? I am up for trying anything, so please if you have any suggestions please let me know! I hope to have this packet in my TPT store by the end of the week and also I will post a FREEBIE from the packet here. Hope you all have a GREAT Hump Day tomorrow!
